Sewerage Treatment Plant Installation

Design, civils & electrical, consent-ready paperwork. Packaged plants to BS EN 12566-3. Same-day surveys across the North, 24/7.

Sewerage (Sewage) treatment plant installation.

When to choose this service

Choose a sewerage (sewage) treatment plant (STP) when you’re off-mains, replacing a non-compliant septic tank, increasing occupancy, or need higher effluent quality for a discharge to watercourse or drainage field. Ideal for homes, schools, hospitality, industrial units and estates.

We handle site survey, sizing (PE), ground investigations and percolation tests; then provide a design aligned to BS EN 12566-3 and the General Binding Rules, with options for pumped outlets, high-level alarms and telemetry.

Why Drain Alert

End-to-end delivery: design & consent support (EA/SEPA/NRW), civils (excavation, concrete slab, bunding), installation (tank set, inlet/outlet, venting), electrical (control panel, blowers, pumps) and commissioning with sampling. We decommission old tanks, manage waste removal and reinstate surfaces.

You’ll receive O&M manuals, as-built drawings and a commissioning certificate—plus servicing plans for guaranteed performance and compliance. Brands supported include leading packaged treatment plant manufacturers.

How we install treatment plants

A proven, fully managed process for sewerage treatment plant installations across the North of England.

Survey & specify

Site visit, PE calculation, percolation tests and ground investigation. We confirm discharge route and prepare outline design to BS EN 12566-3 and Building Regs Part H.

Permissions & design

We assist with General Binding Rules checks or permit applications, produce method statements, drawings and RAMS, and agree electrical requirements and alarms/telemetry.

Groundworks & install

Excavate and set tank on concrete base, connect inlet/outlet and power, install drainage field or outfall, test and backfill with suitable ballast; reinstate surfaces.

Commission & maintain

Startup, air balance and functional testing with sampling. Handover O&M pack and set servicing schedule; remote monitoring/alarms available.

Safety & compliance for STP installs

We’re fully insured and accredited by Constructionline, CHAS, UKSTT and SafeContractor. Our designs align with BS EN 12566-3 and Building Regulations Part H, and we support compliance with the General Binding Rules or permit process as applicable. Sewerage treatment plant FAQs

Quick answers to the questions we’re asked most. If you don’t see yours, call 0800 616 222.

1What is a sewerage (sewage) treatment plant?
A packaged system that treats wastewater to a much higher standard than a septic tank using aeration and settlement. Suitable for off-mains properties and small sites.
2Do I need a permit?
Many discharges are covered by the General Binding Rules; others require an environmental permit. We assess your site and help with any applications.
3How big should the plant be?
We size to Population Equivalent (PE), peak flows and site constraints, then select a model to BS EN 12566-3 with suitable discharge route (drainage field, watercourse or pumped).
4Do you handle civils and electrical work?
Yes—excavation, concrete base, pipework, vents, kiosk/control panel, blowers and pumps, including power and alarms/telemetry.
5How long does installation take?
Most domestic installs take a few days once consents and materials are in place; larger or complex sites take longer. We’ll give you a programme at quote.
6Can you replace our septic tank?
Yes. We decommission and remove/infilling as required, then install a compliant treatment plant with new drainage field or outfall.
7What maintenance is required?
Routine servicing and desludging keep performance within spec. We offer scheduled visits and remote monitoring options.
8What happens in a power cut?
Most plants continue to hold flows; process efficiency drops until power returns. We specify high-level alarms and can add backup measures if needed.
9Do you provide paperwork?
Yes—commissioning certificate, O&M manuals, as-builts and service records. We can also provide water-quality sampling where required.
10Can you work out of hours?
We offer 24/7 attendance and can schedule night or weekend works to minimise disruption.
